Hey guys!
After such a long time I’ve got myself sitting here and writing a new post.
This time I’ll tell you about my experience in Calgary, Canada. We went and stayed with Siva mama, Manju aunty and Nanda’s house. I loved it because I’ve always wanted to see snow and well this was it.
We arrived there the 29th of December. The temperature was really cold, around -6°. Siva mama told us we had a great timing because just a day or 2 before there had been a snowfall, so when we reached town it was all white and snowy.
The next day we went to a small town nearby called Drumheller. First we saw world’s largest standing dinosaur. It’s really cool because you can go up to the dinosaur’s mouth and from there you get a wonderful view of the surrounding. The only thing that I didn’t like was that the air up there was freezing. From there we went to the Royal Tyrrell Museum. I learned a lot from the museum, first of all that we can find a lot of fossils in this region of Alberta. One thing that caught my attention was that the structure of the Royal Tyrrell Museum is very similar to the Museo del Desierto here in Saltillo.
The way to Drumheller and back is really great because the prairies are covered with snow, so sometimes all you could see was just white and white everywhere!
The 31st, on New Year’s Eve, we went with some of Siva mama’s and Manju aunty’s indian friends (Dr. Marcus and his family and Mr. Saravana murthy and his family) to celebrate the New Year. We came back early according to Mexican timings (at 1:30) haha but we stayed up until 4 am just talking and talking and talking.
The next day Dr. Marcus and his family and another friend of Siva mama’s and appa’s called Bala and his family came to eat at Siva mama’s house. We ate indian dishes, byriani, parotha, vadai and other vegetable side dishes.
One day, we went to the University of Calgary. I really liked it, it’s so well organized. I think the idea of connecting all the building with tunnels is great, because then you wouldn’t need to go out in the cold to get something or go to the other building. We also saw the Olympic Oval. It’s really amazing how people coordinate while skating. I hope someday I will go I study there (:
A day before returning to Torreón, we went to Lake Louise and to a small town called Banff. I loved this day because it snowed and everything looked like from a movie. The snowfall started when we were on our way to the lake and when we reached Banff it had stopped. I totally loved the lake because apart from the fact that it was snowing, the lake was frozen! I had never seen anything like that so I loved it. They also had like a castle made from ice cubes over the lake so everything looked sooooooooo nice. It was really cool.
After taking a great deal of photos there, we went to Banff. There we first visited a big hotel which looked like a very tall castle. The sceneries were great as the small town is very close to the Canadian Rockies. We also visited a frozen falls. I liked the view of the mountains from there, more than the falls itself.
Well, finally I just have to say that I really loved Calgary. The city is really nice and I liked this trip very much.
