DEBATE: Legalization of the Marijuana

What’s up!

This time I’m writing about a theme we recently discussed at school. Last week our Spanish teacher told us to choose a theme for our class debate. We chose the legalization of the marijuana in Mexico.

I think that’s really an interesting subject to debate about because its effects could be either good or bad.

Personally, I think they should legalize it because in that way we could eliminate the drug dealing problem and to avoid addictions problems we could educate the young generations and all the people living about the drug and about its effects in an inadequate way. Like this we can have a controlled use of the marijuana.

Our argument for supporting it was that we could overcome sooo many problems, deaths, kidnaps etc. and it even does less harm than the alcoholic beverages and the cigarettes.

Well, in the debate some of my classmates who were against the legalization said that the main reason it shouldn’t be legalized was because the society wasn’t ready yet for such a drastic change. But I think that it can be used correctly if people have conscience about the marijuana’s bad effects.

Well we finally came to the conclusion that maybe it should be legalized but first the government and each family should teach the people to differentiate the good from the bad and about all the consequences of each action you make.

Bicentenario 2010

Holaa todos!

2010 is a special year for Mexico. 200 years ago the Independence movement started in Dolores, Hidalgo by a priest called Miguel Hidalgo and a group of criollos (children of Spanish but born in Mexico). Another important thing this year is that it has been a century since the Mexican revolution.

Even before this year started, the government started making a lot of publicity for many events in commemoration of this historic year. There were many cultural and social events in many important places in the country. The main event is the grito on the 15th night. The most important grito will be given by the president in Mexico City.

This year apart from the all the events; we had the longest Puente (it’s when we don’t go to school for several days because an important event’s date fell on a week day) ever; we just went to school Monday and Tuesday.

At school, we had a kermes for the Independence Day. The seniors of junior high school and high school were in charge of everything. In each classroom there were 5 teams and each team was to sell something typically Mexican. My team sold duros preparados, cake and we had the civil registration. We had a laugh with this because we made soooo many funny things to get all our things sold. Some of my friends sold; ice-pop sticks, quesadillas (it’s like chapatti with melted cheese), fruit juice and so.

Later the next day, appamma and I went to Valeria’s house for the grito. There we met Vero’s, Diana’s and the twins Maya and Kenya’s family. The parents stayed in the house talking while we went to the plazita to play and talk. We had a lot of fun!

summer's gone! getting back to basics

What's up!!! Summer time is over, now it time to get back to routine life!
Today was my first day as a senior, as I'm already in last year of junior high school!
When I reached school, the first thing I saw was a whole big bunch of first year students trying to see in which section they were.
I was really happy to return to school as I hadn't seen most of my friends in 2 months. We all were like omg! what did u do in these vacation? did u went in a holiday? did u have fun? I missed u soooo much! and stuff like that LOL
We have now 2 new students in our class, I hope they get used to our way of being in a short time and get united with our class.
We started our first 2 hours with miss Cecy explaining us the methods that were to be used this year and then just making some dynamics to get to know each other. Later we were presented to a new teacher called Norma who will be our chemistry and oyt (orientacion y tutoria) teacher through out the year. We also saw miss Rose our history teacher, as well as miss Alejandra our F.C.y E. (formacion civica y etica) teacher, miss Artemisa our spanish teacher whom we know since our first year and our new maths teacher prof. Rodolfo who we all hoped to be prof. Bustos magically! In the office I saw miss Pilar our always kind and friendly coordinator.
Finally, it was a great day! To see soooooooo many new faces and old ones of course! at school is always a nice thing!
The only sad thing is that we weren't able to see many friends who for a variety of reasons weren't able to be at our school this year :( but wherever they are I wish them all the luck! :D
Well, just hope this year will be even greater that last years!

Cuando un amigo se va...

It’s really sad when you have to goodbye to someone you really love…

Today at 5:00am was the last time I saw Jibran, Karina, Montse and their parents.

I first met Jibran, Montse and their parents in fifth grade when he was in my science fair team and I still remember I owe him a movie I promised him 3 years ago! He was just my friend in the past few years but in the last 3 to 4 months he became one of my best friends.

Karina, well I remember not knowing her until I got into the football team, from the first time I knew she was a very happy and fun person but I got to know I wasn’t mistaken in the last year when we all got together very often.

Now, there aren’t words to show what I feel at this moment, they are great people and they’ll always be. I’m really glad I got the chance to know them and of course I’ll always remember them no matter what! We all will never forget all the things we did and spent together.

I hope to see them again in the future someday…. As they say distance is no obstacle for true friendship.

Hope you like the song. It talks about the feelings you have when a friend goes away…

ESPAAÑA CAMPEOON!!

Bonjour!!!!
Well, Spain is the new world champion, now in South Africa 2010. I’m really happy as since the world cup started I have supported this team and of course Mexico.
Spain started its performance in this tournament with a defeat against Switzerland but later it recovered it level and won against Honduras and Chile in group stage. It passed to the knockout stage as first place of the group H. Spain passed over Portugal in the round of 16 with a goal of David Villa in the second half. With the same result Spain against Paraguay in the quarter-finals, they passed to the semifinals. This match seemed a bit complicated as it was against Germany who had been showing a really impressive way of playing and was one of the favorites to win the cup this year. When the time came, Spain showed it huge potential winning the match with Puyol’s header, breaking of the forecasts.
Well, today in the world cup final against Netherlands; both Spain and Netherlands didn’t reach their great football level, but I think they gave their 100% in the ground even with all the faults made. In my point of view the first 90 minutes were a bit boring comparing the 2 extra times. There was a stage in the match were I thought that the champion was going to be defined in penalties but hopefully for me Andres Iniesta scored the goal of the victory in the 2nd extra time.
This is the first time the actual European champions win the FIFA World Cup. Actually, none of the 2 finalists of South Africa had been world champions before. Netherlands is now a three time sub champion. Netherlands lost with dignity.
Finally, I’m really really happy for Spain and for winning my bet haha(:

south africa 2010

Bonjour a tous!

The first game of each country in the world has finished. It has been a round with many surprises; as the very good strategy of North Corea against Brasil, Spain’s defeat against Switzerland, and the golazos (it’s how we call very good goals here in Mexico) of Brasil.

This worldcup’s inauguration was really colorful and in a very african style. It’s the first time, this magnificient event takes place in an african country, so this world doesn’t just represent southafrica but the whole african continent. I think it’s a memmorable world cup.

The opening match was against Mexico , so all of us here really got into the match. I think Mexico could have played so much better but well we can’t do anything about it now. The other day when I saw a group in facebook called ; I really started laughing about how people have crazy ideas.

My favorite to win this world cup is Spain, but seeing yesterday’s performance I really think they should start playing as in the Euro. Other teams are Brasil and Argentina; the all time favorites and Germany is playing really well too.

Now that the second round of matches has started, Uruguay played really good in their 3-0 victory over the host Southafrica, Argentina won 4-1 against South Korea and Greece won 2-1 against Nigeria. In a few hours we will know Mexico’s future in the world cup as it’s going to play against France. We are all wainting for this important match.

Finally, I just hope this world cup we had been waiting for 4 years, will overcome all expectatives.

CONADEIP NATIONALS

Well, after a whole week of matches and more matches in Pachuca, we got the 4th place in national level football.
After reaching Pachuca on 18th March, we just arranged our things and took rest for our first match next day at 9:00 am in the ART (Alto Rendimiento Tuzo: it's the place where we had our matches, it's the concentration camp of Pachuca's team Tuzos).
We arrived the ART at 8:00 am. We met our "calentadoras" (these girls were the ones who made us do the warm up before the match) Marisela, Gloria, Fernanda and Scarlett. They are really nice people.
This match was against ITESM campus Estado de Mexico. It was played equally well by both sides. At the end, the score was 1-1, so we went to penalties in which we lost :(
The second match was against Prepa Tec. Actually, in this really tough match we lost 5-0. My consolation was that we played really well the 2nd half, in where they didn't put not even a goal.
A victory in the third match against Colegio Miraflores gave us the pass to semifinals. The 70 minutes were really full of emotion as just a goal was the difference between them and us, so we had to be constantly running and being really careful about not making any mistake. When the referee gave the final whistle, we were all so excited, for us actually it was really wow, just the fact of being between the 4 best teams in Mexico.
Now, our semifinal match was against Colegio Once de Mexico from Guadalajara, they had passed to semifinals as the toughest team in the league. Being honest, we were really nervous and it was clearly seen in the ground. We lost 8-0.
Now we had to recover confidence for our match for the third place against the CUM (Centro Universitario de Mexico). We lost 1-0, it was really sad as the goal came by one of our mistakes.
Well, we had finished our stay here in Pachuca. It was sad to be a step from having the third place and missing it, but even though a fourth place in the first time we go to nationals, it's really good.
Later that day, after eating lunch and so, we met the players of Pachuca's first team. I think they were really friendly :)
After this great experience, it was time to return home.

I liked Pachuca a lot. It's awesome! There's a place called Real del Monte; it's a mining little town in a hill. Another things that were really good there were the elotes (corn), they're totally not like the ones we prepare here but the taste really great. A typical food prepared there are the pastes, they're like puffs filled with different kind of things either sweet or sour.
Well, finally it was a beautiful experience! Apart from getting to know the city and making new friends, you see different ways of playing, and you get more confidence after playing against really strong teams. In fact, Esteban (our coach) told us that these experiences will help us grow and make us better each day.

Instead of that we'll have a GREAT experience!

Guess what???
This wednesday; Mexico's national football team is coming to play here in TORREON! (LOL can you believe it!!) against North Korea and we won't be here!! D:
But, from the other side is that we'll be going to play Nationals of CONADEIP in Pachuca. We're going to play football against many other teams from whole Mexico :D
We got our pass to Pachuca, nearly 2 weeks ago when we went to play in another city called Leon. There we played against the LUX, and won 3-2. Actually when the referee gave the final whistle, all of us were so soooo soooo excited!! This is the first time we go to nationals (:
Now this whole weekend has been of considerable amount of work,, on saturday we sold burritos, cokes, brownies, cake, ice-pops and so in a school event and yesterday we had a HAMBURGUESADA (it's when you make a lot of hamburgers and sell them) and we sold more than 500 hamburgers!!!!! All this was to collect funds for our trip to Pachuca!
Well now, 2 days away from leaving to Pachuca,,, I just hope that we can give our best in the ground!

--AVATAR--

Hola todos!!

This time I’ll tell you about a new movie called Avatar.

It’s a science-fiction movie, directed by James Cameron. He also directed the super hit movie; Titanic, between others.

The movie is about the relationship between the humans and the Naa’vi (the tribe living in Pandora).

The humans go to a new planet called Pandora. There they discover that it has a kind of mineral-metal that values more than a million dollar the kilo. The conflict is that the Naa’vi live over that land.

A group of scientists create a biological body similar of that of the Naa’vi called Avatars. Now, one of the principal scientists dies and his Avatar will die if it doesn’t have someone to control it. Here’s where Jack Sully appears; he and his brother were twins. This made Jack perfect to take control of his brother’s Avatar. So Jack, an ex-marine is transported to Pandora.

There Dr. Grace, the chief of the Avatar’s Program, considers Jack inadequate to take his brother’s place. One day she, Jack and another researcher called Norm in their Avatar form go into the forest. While taking samples, an enormous strange creature attacks them. Jack is separated from the group and gets lost.

In the night, he is rescued by Neytiri, a girl from the Naa’vi tribe. After helping Jack, she doesn’t want to do anything with him. But later, she agrees to take him to the Hometree (the place where the tribe lived). After discussing about him Neytiri’s mom decides that he could stay in the condition of learning their lifestyle.

Meanwhile he was learning all the traditions and way of living of the Naa’vi from Neytiri; he falls in love with her and with all the people and land. After learning everything, he becomes a warrior and one of the “people”.

Before starting this close relationship, he had promised the chief coronel to send him information about the Naa’vi. So, when he gets affectionate he stops sending data.

One day, the soldiers destroy one of the most sacred places for the Naa’vi. Jack, climbs over the excavators and destroys the cameras.

When the chief saw the tape, he immediately recognizes Jack and gets angry with him. Jack and Dr. Grace go to talk to them and ask for an hour to convince the Naa’vi to move into another place. Before they could tell them the problem, the Neytiri and all the people get mad with them.

The coronel attacks the Naa’vi and destroys Hometree, causing the Naa’vi to emigrate.

Back in the camp the colonel locks up Jack, Dr. Grace and Norm in a room. One of the pilots called Trudy and Dr. Max get them out. Trudy and everyone except Dr. Max try leave the camp. The coronel hurts Dr. Grace while he shot the helicopter. Jack decides to get help from the Naa’vi as Grace was really weak.

First, he had to get back their trust, so he goes to tame a Toruk (it was a flying animal, which just 5 Naa’vi had tamed before). When he appears with the Toruk, the tribe showed him a lot of respect and accepted to help him. They couldn’t save Dr. Grace.

Next day, Dr. Max tells them that the coronel decided to attack the Tree of Souls and finish completely with the hope of the Naa’vi. Jack speaks with the tribe and asks them for help to fight for their land against the Sky People. All the tribes get together for the Toruk’s call. All of them get prepared for the final battle. Jack asks for help to Eywa (the Naa’vi goddess).

In the decisive day, finally Eywa helps them, sending all the animals in the planet to fight against the invaders.

With lot of courage, the Naa’vi win the battle. Neytiri kills the coronel ad saves Jack.

In the end, just a few humans are allowed to stay in Pandora and the rest is sent back to Earth. Jack fulfills his dream of being in the Naa’vi body forever. (:

In my opinion, I think that the movie is really good. I liked very much the special effects, they’re really wonderful.

Appa told us that Cameron based in the Hindu mythology to create the Naa’vi and the Avatars.

Well, finally I recommend you to see this film. I loved it. It’s really worth seeing in theaters.
