This year on summer vacations we went to India .
We first went to Chennai with Janani akka, Varshini, Mishal, Shanti athai, Ganapathy mama, Shankar chitappa and Mini chiti.
After staying there for a couple of weeks, we went to Coimbatore to see Lalitha achi, Samy thatha, Aparna, Devi athai, Soori mama and Mani mama. We also saw perrito (Lalitha achi and Samy thatha's dog)! He's really big and cute.
Since we arrived at Chennai and in Coimbatore Balu thatha and Gomathi achi stayed with us.
We also saw many ammappa’s friend in both cities.
We went out to malls, temples, to have an ice cream, to go out for dinner, to see Harry Potter and many more things.
Before coming back Mani mama took both achi’s, amma and myself to Ooty (a hill town). I loved it! It is really cool: the climate, the scenaries, everything!
It was really nice to spend time with all of them after such a long time. I had such a wonderful time and even wish we could have stayed a bit longer!
I think India is changing, I saw a lot of difference between last time we came (2 years ago) and this time. It has become really Cosmopolitan and modern. But there is still the essence of Indian culture and I do think it’ll always remain there.
Something quite interesting is that I noticed a lot of difference between people from North India to the ones from the South (talking generally). The southern people are more conservative and in a way a more closed society, meanwhile in the north they’re more open, a more liberal society.
Sometimes, I wonder what will happen if I return there. What will I have to do, what will happen to my ways of life, even maybe my ideas will have to change, and in a certain point of view it’ll be really hard I guess. I hope and know that when that time comes, my family will be able to help me through it.
Maybe I have an mexican way of thinking, maybe not, maybe it’s a mix of both cultures. It’s the way I grew up not here nor there. Lets see what happens next….
